The Club is located in Debomfords Lane, GEILSTON BAY, right on the edge of the River Derwent.
Geilston Bay is about 11 nM up the Derwent River, Near nipaluna/Hobart, lutrawita/Tasmania.
The Bay was named after a Captain Giles and in 1827 was the site of the first regatta in Australia.
Around 155 years later, in 1982/83, 48 people donated $200 each to establish a home for the Geilston Bay Boat Club. Today the GBBC is a thriving community Club of over 100 members.
Named as a “boat” Club to specifically include all water-going vessels, much of the Club’s activities revolve around its jetties, slipways and boat ramp.
Situated at the head of the Bay beside tennis courts, a community oval and the local primary school, it has substantial club rooms with bar and catering facilities.
As with all community clubs, we are always on the lookout for ways to advance our Club facilities and social activities, and constantly looking for opportunities to involve local business.
